81 DAYS: THE LAST JOURNEY OF ROBERT KENNEDY
81 DAYS: THE LAST JOURNEY OF ROBERT KENNEDY tells the story of the thrilling, unifying, and finally heartbreaking 1968 Presidential campaign of Senator Robert F. Kennedy. Told through interviews with witnesses, participants, and family members, 81 DAYS documents the last political campaign that, briefly, truly united a very divided United States during the nation's most turbulent year: 1968.
Directed by Stephen Vittoria, who helmed the award-winning documentary ONE BRIGHT SHINING MOMENT: THE FORGOTTEN SUMMER OF GEORGE MCGOVERN, 81 DAYS features interviews with political icons such as George McGovern, Sen. Edward Kennedy, Gary Hart; celebrities such as Warren Beatty, Gore Vidal, John Frankenheimer, Shirley MacLaine; Activists such as Dolores Huerta, Gloria Steinem, Dick Gregory, as well as for the first time, members of the Robert Kennedy family who remember their late husband and father on the record for the first time.
In addition, 81 DAYS will feature never-before-seen footage of Robert Kennedy at work and at play, much of it shot by legendary Hollywood director John Frankenheimer ("The Manchurian Candidate," "Ronin"), who was in charge of RFK's publicity.
A uniquely American story about a unique time in our country's history, one that parallels much of what is happening now, 40 years and two wars, and nine Presidential elections later.
